Re: Introduction
Hi.
HeReTiC #849
I'm a random player. My Protoss play was certainly my strength for awhile. Recently I've been focusing on improving with Zerg and Terran. There's no race that I enjoy playing more than another; the life of a random player is one of variety and that's why I enjoy it.
If anyone would like to practice I'm usually online and willing to play practice games most of the time.
I made my first appearance to the LXG community for the LXG Open #7. I won the LXG Open #7, #8, and was runner up in #9, falling to PaNdeSaL. I would have won #10 if the semi championship and championship maps were played.
I'm very grateful for the welcomeness that LXG has shown me and am proud to say that I've become a part of the LXG community.

Re: Introduction
Hi everyone.
Please call me Cliff, it is my nickname, Nan and few others here know me.
Found LXG through Nan's youtubes, I'm a big fan of Nan as a caster.
I play Protoss as my main race, offrace as Zerg.
I am a Technical writer IRL, but started blogging in a serious fashion this year.
Have a few blogs, but my biggest one is my Starcraft 2 blog cliffsesportcorner.blogspot.com
I am trying to provide something that fits between Teamliquid and Day9 as a resource for people interested in SC2. This post covers that and overview of the blog, though it tends to lag few weeks behind changes cliffsesportcorner.blogspot.com/2011/09/anti-spoiler-link-resource-guide-to.html
I currently play under the name "AceRimmer" [Red Dwarf fan] but will probably change it to something close to my blog name.
I cover many of the big tournaments, provide posts that gives text outline of the games that I cover as best as I can. So people that miss the game can check my blog for results and at least get a general idea of what happened in the game.
Not as good as a replay or VOD, but lots of times with the big events it can be days or weeks before those get released.
I played Chess seriously before I got into SC2, made it into State Closed Championships in HS.
Chess background helps a lot for analyzing SC2 IMHO. I know both Day9 & Spanishiwa have a Chess background.
I like the feel of this forum better than TL, TL is to big for me.
I like talking about SC2, and I watch a lot of streams, VOD, & replays.
I work at home, so unless I need my big monitor for something else, I normally have SC2 video of some sort running on it ~12-14 hours a day. And I am trying to make Blogging or writing about SC2 part of my career so it counts as work.
Build Orders are my least favorite part of the game, but if your trying to figure out something you saw or heard about I probably can help you find the information.
Even Build orders,
GL HF,
Cliff

Hey guys, I'm-a Kaboodle, which is short for Kaboodleschmitt
Kaboodle.133
I play Zerg primarily, although up until about a month ago (November 2011) I played random all the time, so I can always off-race. Currently, I'm diamond-level... Found out about the LXG Open at Playhem and went from there. I'm around pretty often on SC2 and Skype (Kaboodleschmitt), and I'm usually open to practice, trying out different builds, etc. etc., so hit me up when I'm online if/when you guys want.
Pleased to meet you all. Gl and hf ;]

Re: Introduction
I'm Idunno 885 and I play terran. I've been inspired to play terran since the unkown man named "Boxer" entered the scene in Brood War. Many don't know but Terran used to be considered the weak "primitive" race (the latter is still true in some regards) and he helped change it. You may think Terran was always dominant in Korea, but actually it was Zerg/Protoss rule and one man, on his mission to save a race changed all that.
I am Idunno, and I love my terran.

Hihi, im ast and im just introducing myself real quick on the forums. I started playing about a year ago but School pwned my life and now I dont get as much time. As of lately I have been working on getting my PhD is psychology. I recently have won several tournaments, 2 of the gold/plat tournies from playhem and the LXG-Bronze-gold open #2. I play zerg and I think i could get masters pretty quickly if I had more time. If anyone is looking to practice or something hit me up! Idk, any other questions you might have I can try to answer as best as I can.

Plixxer
Plixxer 814,
Hey guys! I'm plixxer, or you can call me J if you want. Im a masters level zerg, started back up a few months ago and I was a diamond level toss before I switched to the swarm. I hang out in LXG a lot and have been looking into joining the community. I like that you guys are super friendly and fun and I love playing in your tournies! AST!!!! I watched the lxg open #2 and loved your build you did against that terran player. I liked it so much I actually copied it a bit and turned it into a pretty solid build against protoss. Its won me 6/7 of my matches against masters level toss so thanks!

Thats awesome, Glad you liked the build, but tbh.. It wasnt really a build.. My brother told me I was only allowed to build queens/spines/broodlords the whole game so I accepted the challenge. Maybe you can teach me your build sometime though? I struggle with toss sometimes.

re: Introduction
ProfSc.964
Hello! I can't believe I haven't done this yet... My name is ProfSc, I'm a former protoss turned Terran who recently got into the Masters League during Season 6. I like to look at Starcraft 2 from an analytical perspective: I like looking at the Spending Tab, Resources Lost, worker benchmarks, etc. I believe that there is a theory to Starcraft 2 where a win or loss can be explained purely by the way that players spend and utilize resources—I suppose that that's just an academic way of saying "macro harder."
In addition to the above, I'm interested in applying game theory to Starcraft 2 when it comes to build orders, using models like the prisoner's dilemma, focal points, and games of incomplete information (still learning about game theory, though). There are people who say that game theory is only applicable to Starcraft 2 in the tournament scene if at all, but I think there's potential for using it even for the ladder.
Finally, I try to stay abreast of the innovation that comes out of Starcraft 2 in terms of strategy. In my studies, I've had to read Thomas Kuhn's "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions," in which he argues that paradigms in science are the true drivers of scientific advance. I think that extensions of that concept exist in dynamic societies like Starcraft 2. We call it the "metagame."
As an example, take Griffith's 4OC build. It fell out of favor for a 3OC style, but even that was seen as too greedy because Zerg players favored the Roach or Baneling bust—this was all occurring at a time of chaos as people were trying to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of each race. Since then, Zerg players have gotten comfortable taking fast third bases to gain significant economic leads. This, coupled with a general increase in skill that allows Terran players to hold busts by taking minimal losses, has led to a resurgence of the 3OC style (to the point that it has become a "standard" opening).
