    Team Replay Discussion Thread

Post  ProfscLXG on Mon May 21, 2012 5:11 pm

So the rules of the thread are simple. Put your games in some easy-to-access DLing site under one of these two headers:

    1. I should have won!

    2. I should have lost!

The first one is pretty simple, basically that header covers all of those games that you think you should have won except for some crucial element or elements. As it's understandable that you may be flustered by your loss, it becomes incumbent on the team, as a support network, to give thoughts and feedback.

The second one, perhaps, is not so simple. The feeling of losing is very acute, whereas the feeling of winning either generates relief or a warm feel-good feeling. Losing and winning both blind us to the reasons of why we lost or why we won. For that purpose, the second heading isn't so much about celebrating victories as it is an acknowledgement that a game was extremely close.

If we accept that games can be extremely close, then the outcome of the game changes from "I won" to "my opponent lost." Recognizing that these are two very different things is a step towards becoming better at Starcraft II.

So post your replays and let's get to analyzing!

Edit: Haha, forgot to put the header: I should have lost!

    TvZ Mech on Daybreak: http://www.sctemple.com/replay/250912/

    My goals:

    1. Take fast expansion to keep up with Zerg economy. - Successful
    2. Use hellions and later, banshees, to establish map control/harass. - Little success
    3. Establish and hold fast third. - Successful
    4. Max out by 15 minutes on three bases. - Unsuccessful, (Max out by 17 minutes)
    5. Have pre-emptive starports to deal with BLs. - Unsuccessful, additional Starports constructed AFTER seeing BLs.
    6. Possess raven with first push. - Unsuccessful, raven never constructed.
    7. Achieve economic benchmarks. - Fail: Terran economic benchmark at 6 minutes with 2 bases is 24 workers. I was at 20.

P.S. I also haven't had the time to look at the expansion build on Daybreak, so I'll take a look at it and compare.

Edit: I checked out the expansion build with mech transition... Could we get more examples of that? The zerg player stayed on zerglings for forever trying to break the expansion against mech units.

Hey guys, I need your help with this one, because I SHOULD have lost. Times to scan, what to scout for, etc., would be nice to know, because it could have easily been an 8:30 roach all-in and I would've just had marines.

How do you scout for this type of roach all-in? I think it was adapted from the 12 minute roach rush vs. toss.: http://www.sctemple.com/replay/251068/
